Stay Safe Support Volunteer

The purpose of this role is to support socially isolated residents aged over 65 that have been identified by a GP as being extra vulnerable

This role provides advocacy to a vulnerable older person with weekly visits and twice daily telephone calls.

Do you think you could provide companionship to an older, vulnerable person? You would need to be able to provided some support with helping the client to access services and be a  point of contact for other professionals that work with the client if there is no other family/carer/responsible person?

This role could also involves helping the client do some practical things needed to attend hospital and some support at meal times.  It could also involve helping them to manage their daily living needs such as grooming and engaging in conversation.

The following training is provided to support you in your role:

  • Safeguarding Adults
  • Managing Conflict
  • Understanding capacity
  • confidentiality

you would need to be available for 12 weeks one day a week. Full support is provided by the programme co-ordinator on a regular basis.
